The World of Draconica
Although the planet that would be known as Draconica has been around for several millennia, Draconica as a civilised planet has only been around for just over 5000 years. Life was created by the dragon Jeova, who in turn created other dragons. With the powers to travel through Time and Space, they travelled to many other worlds and brought back many species to Draconica. These would form the animals and races of the planet.
Originally, Draconica was one huge island. But thanks to the dragon Nar-Gar (who was known for fits of rage in the sea), he broke up the islands to many different pieces, creating several continents. These days, Draconica is split up into four areas - south, north, east and west.
Southern Lands
The southern lands are known for being comprised mainly of forest lands and beautiful mountain ranges. The countries and places that make up the southern lands are:
Brittana: A prosperous country that was founded by Dronor and home to the Dragonkin. They are a powerful kingdom built of chivalry and strength.
Celtland: Brittana's neighbour and a country that worships nature and animals - to the point where it is illegal to harm animals in some places. Founded by Arkana, but they also worship Isiah.
The Isle of Dagon: A small island separate from Brittana and Celtland. Not much is known about this island save for it has a strong fishing community.
Eastern Lands
The eastern lands are mainly comprised of vast deserts. The eastern lands are the hottest part of the planet, with tempertures reaching up to 100 degrees during the summer periods. Whilst the people of the east have adapted (and can live in) this heat, most foreigners are unable to cope with the heat and succumb to heat stroke without a regular water supply.
Hussana: Home to the legendary Pharoh Pyramids, which is where many of the great leaders of their time are buried. This country is home to the best cavalry in the entire world - in fact horseback is their favoured mode of attack.
Afga: One of the most corrupt countries of the east, where crime is commonplace. Was originally used as a prison colony, the criminals have since set up their own "society". Generally considered to be avoided.
Ira-Kai: Formerly a totalitarian state under the rule of Sultan Salem Kazebar, it has since been taken over by the Baalarian Empire and serves as one of their Eastern outposts.
Northern Lands
The coldest parts of the world, with Naedor being the coldest - able to reach temperatures lower than zero during winter. In Baalaria, most of the coutnry is covered by a shroud of darkness that is been known as the Dark Lands, meaning that most of the land is utterly devoid of sunlight.
Baalaria: Also known as the '''Baalarian Empire'''. A vast and powerful empire that was founded by the dragon Baala. It's army is generally considered the most powerful and disciplined of all armies, their strategy focused heavily around defence as opposed to offence. Whilst Baalaria is the main country they also have outposts in the eastern lands and Shadori.
Leonida: The immortal enemy of Baalaria and home to a barbarian race. Founded by Leoni. Leonidans operate under a somewhat tough way of life - emphasising strength above else. In Leonida, fighting is a way of life and to die in battle is a Leonidan's ultimate goal.
Shadoria: Home the shadori, a proud warrior race. Made up of seven different clans that hold certain areas of the country.
Naedor: A frozen wasteland set to the furthest of the planet. Said to be created by Frostella, it is the homeland of the beastmen, who were one of the few races to survive the extreme temperatures.
Western Lands
This is where the jungle lands are situated and also the Republic of Garmany. The jungles are a dangerous area, known for extreme heat that can rival the eastern lands - or for violent storms and monsoons that can be destructive to those not familar to the lands.
Aztraz: A mass jungle land. Those visiting must be careful as the extreme heat can cause sunstroke - or you can be drowned in the monsoons. It also has the largest number of poisons on Draconica - be they from animals or plant life.
Scathia: Home to the Scathians, a tribe comprised entirely of women. Scathians were originally Leonidan females that, tired of being oppressed, came here to start off their own tribe.
Pirate Island: An independant island that is home to pirates. Whilst not a lawless state, it plays by it's own rules and often favours the strong and the cunning above all else.
Chimera Island: Formerly a hiding place for rogue alchemists, who committed perverted scientific experiments against nature. Many monstrous beasts live on this island, but it is home to a race of giants called the jotun.
The Republic of Garmany: A large continent split up into six different countries - Pariah, Itania, Valenco, Spana, Romano and Drewghaven. Garmany doesn’t have a ruler of the entire country, but six independant leaders who rule these states. Garmany is at the forefront of both art, science and technology. The countries that make up Garmany are as follows:
Other Locations
The Vortex: A vicious whirlpool that stretches at least a hundred miles across the sea. It has a strong gravitational field that, once you are in range, pulls you in. As such all but the most foolhardy of sailors avoid it like the plague. The legends say that this is a gateway where all the evils of the world are stored, but no one has ever confirmed this.
Magic
Magic in some form or another does exist, and used to be the main belief on Draconica. But now its greatly de-emphasised and use of pure magic is rare, given that many have abandoned its ways in favour of science. A version of magic exists in the form of alchemy.
Although widely disregarded, some cultures still follow the teachings of magic - however very few can actually master it and it's use is restricted to that of magical items.
Language
Draconica has a number of different languages within it. The most common known ones include:
Commonspeak: The standard language on Draconica and the most commonly spoken and easiest to understand.
Shadorian: Spoken by the shadori. Described as a fairly beautiful and elegant language, it is fairly difficult for many to translate due to many words having multiple meanings.
Easternspeak: Also known as Eastern Tongue. Spoken by those in the eastern lands. It is considered an extremely harsh and aggressive language due to the lack of vowels and strong use of consonants - often making those speaking it sound angry or aggressive.
Romanon: The main language of Romano. It is a language with heavy emphasis on the E, B and V sounds. Many consider it a dull language and many Romanons often speak slowly and sound slurred. It has led to a belief across the world that Romanon's are stupid. When talking in Commonspeak, the Romanon accent pronounces PL sounding words as B. (i.e., pleasure sounds like bleasure), although most works beginning with P often come out ok. Words ending with "ing" tend to sound more like "ink" and they seem incapable to say W sounding words. Often, V's become W's (i.e., "Welcome" becomes "Velcome).
Kaemian: Spoken by the legendary kaemian people. Considered a dead language now as the kaemian's don't exist anymore.
Banelord: As the name suggests, it is only spoken by the Banelords. It consists of primitive, nonsensical words that are spoken seemingly at random - making it impossible to translate.
Scathian: Spoken by the tribes of Scathia. It is considered to be a jumbled mixed of words that seem to have strong emphasis on "bu" and "aka" words. Some say it almost sounds animal like, possibly inspired by the noises of the creatures that live there. Many find it untranslatable - although some travelers have attempted it.
There may be other languages within the planet, but these ones are the most common.
Currency
Draconican currency is primarily in gold and silver, but they can also use diamonds, rubies and gems as currency in some countries. Some countries name their gold after their country (such as Baalarian Gold, Celtland Silver, etc), but the actual difference between them is negligible and serves only to really show which country they come from. Some countries are known to refuse currency from another country if it is from one that they particularly hate (ie, Baalarian gold cannot be used in Leonidan as the two countries are enemies), but usually this is not an issue.
Races
Sentient Races
Human: The most numerous of the races on Draconica and the ones that take up most of the population.
Shadori: The second most numerous. Appear as purple skinned humanoids with white hair. They are at least four times stronger and more agile than a human and can live much longer. The average life expectancy for a shadori is around 200 years - although in some rare cases they have lived to be 1000.
Impara: Diminuative red skinned creatures who are said to practice magic. In actual fact their practice is not magic - but rather based on a psychic energy that they are born with.
Dragonkin: A creation of Dronor, a combination of both human and dragon. They possess the ability to fly, superhuman physical attributes and various dragon breath powers. Some even had other powers not breath related. Their powers can be passed onto an offspring.
Jotun: A race of giants that originated on Chimera Island.
Lizardmen: A primitive mixture of man and lizard that are often considered monsters. Originally created as part of alchemy for a war and then discarded, they have since grown their own society. They are sometimes used by the Baalarians as shock troops.
Beastmen: Large half man, half bull creatures that possess human intelligence and massive strength.
Goblins: A race of small, green skinned humanoids that were kleptomaniacs. Supposedly extinct, but a few still exist.
Supernatural Races
Mara: Magical females that delight in torturing men. They were originally the first attempt at creating the Dragonkin, but were considered by the dragons as a "failed experiment". Abadon accepted them as her own children. Mara's possess a large number of Dark magic and are extremely powerful.
Extinct Races
Dragons: The creators of Draconica. Creatures that possessed the ability to travel between worlds and vast powers.
Kaemians: Cousins to the impara, appear as blue skinned creatures with bat like features. Have powers based around magic, but are based on an ancient magic not practices. Said to have died out.
Valkyr: A race of warriors who practice magic and were supernatural warriors. Were all wiped out thanks to the betrayal of Maelus.
Calendar
On Draconica, a year is comprised of 10 months with 30 days each, which is the time it takes to travel around the nearest sun. The day consists of 24 hours and a week consists of six days. Days 1-4 are normal working days whilst days 5-6 are weekends, usually dedicated to rest and prayer. Most religious festivals fall on these days. The days of the week are not named as such - so when describing a day, Draconicans often just say the name of the day and the month (I.E., the 23rd Day of the 5th Month) and they will only state a year if it is past or future date.
Whilst they are not officially named, the months in Draconica all have a dedicated dragon associated with each month and any festivals dedicated to this dragon usually happen on this month.
Seasonally, months 1-2 make up the winter period of Draconica, months 3-5 make up the spring period, months 6-8 make up summer and months 9-10 make up autumn. According to Draconica legend, being born on a certain month can determine your personality and traits. The months are as follows.
Month of Dronor: Those born on this month can be adventurous and brave, but also arrogant and overprotective.
Month of Frostella: Those born on this month can be selfish, uncaring and wicked, but also beautiful and level-headed.
Month of Karana: Those born on this month are prone to erratic and sometimes violent mood swings, but can also be very calm and controlled.
Month of Dahli: Those born on this month can be artistic, knowledgeable and highly intelligent, but also vain and pretentious.
Month of Isiah: Those born on this month can be loving, caring and loyal, but also lecherous, narcissistic and unfaithful.
Month of Arkana: Those born on this month are gentle, compassionate and have a great affinity with nature, but also cowardly, shy and non-assertive.
Month of Tah: Those born on this month can be warm and kind, but also hot-headed and headstrong.
Month of Leoni: Those born on this month can be bold and fearless, but also bloodthirstly and merciless.
Month of Baala: Those born on this month are honourable, charismatic and possess great leadership skills, but also also pompous, controlling and strict.
Month of Jeova: Those born on this month can be pious. merciful and devout, but also meek, fundamentalist and close-minded.

The countries that make up Garmany are as follows:
- Pariah: Founded by Pariah Ciserere. Pariah is a kingdom founded on the belief's of chivalry and romance. Knights form a large part of their army and they use very little technology. Pariah is also known for art and fashion (second only to Itana) and some of the best artists come from Pariah. Pariahian silk is the countries best export - an expensive yet beautiful material that is used for dresses and gowns. Pariahian men are said to be the most romantic in the world.
- Itana: Founded by Itana Venger. Their perfumes are considered the best in the world due to the unique flowers and wildlife that create the most pleasing smells in the world. Their most famous fragrance is Succubli, which is said to make any man fall in love with any women that wears it. Itana is a highly theocratic society that follow The Seven Rules of Jeova almost to the letter. It is the only country that is ruled by an Archdeacon, as opposed to a King or Emperor.
- Valenco: Founded by Valenco Falco. This country is at the forefront of alchemy and theatrical productions - with some of the best playwrights and authors born here. It is said that many a great author come to visit this country to be inspired, due to it's pleasing weather and friendly people. Alchemy was first invented here and it's university has produced the finest alchemists on Draconica.
- Spana: Founded by Spana Figo. The smallest of the countries, but also the warmest due to it's proximity to the jungles of Scathia. Spana's favourite pastime is sailing (their naval fleets are said to be the best in the entire land and are considered second to none) and their people often go on sea voyages to the jungles of Aztraz searching for gold.
- Romano: Founded by Romano Algero. Many consider this the darkest and most uninviting of the lands due to the amount of Dark magic that surrounds it. Winters tend to be very cold in this land and the nights can be dark and uninviting. It is a country that has had a history of bloodshed ever since the rule of Dracan Bathorula, also known as "The Vampire", after the monster of the same name, who still rules to this day. It is a country held in the grip of fear.
- Drewghaven: Founded by Drew G Haven, who decided to use his full name to name the country. By far the largest of the countries in the land, Drewghaven is the leader in advanced weaponry. The first to discover gunpowder, it is the world leader in weapons such as cannons and rifles. Not only that, but Drewghaven has created some powerful weapons based on steam and coal. Such as the powerful juggernauts, armoured tanks powered by coal and steam. They also have created the mighty steel jotun, a giant of a machine that is primarily used in the construction of castles.
